The Assistant Early Childhood Assistant is a key part of creating a warm, engaging, and supportive environment where children feel safe, curious, and excited to learn. Working closely with the Lead Educator, this role helps bring daily activities and learning experiences to life while supporting the routines that keep the classroom running smoothly.
In this role, you will collaborate with the Lead Educator to support meaningful play-based learning experiences, assist children with daily routines, and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized classroom environment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, brings positive energy to the classroom, and is passionate about helping children learn and grow through play and exploration.

Job Overview
- Support the Lead Educator in implementing engaging, play-based learning experiences that promote children’s development and curiosity.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel supported and encouraged to explore.
- Help supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, walks, and field trips.
- Support daily routines such as snack and meal times, rest periods, transitions, and classroom organization.
- Assist children with hygiene routines including handwashing, toileting, diapering, and dressing as needed.
- Encourage children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through positive interactions and guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Educator and team members to ensure smooth daily operations in the classroom.
- Help prepare materials and set up learning activities throughout the day.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized environment by helping with daily cleaning and sanitizing of toys, furniture, and classroom materials.
- Monitor toys and equipment to ensure they are safe and in good working condition.
- Support children in developing independence during daily routines such as eating, dressing, and tidying up.
- Maintain accurate documentation as required, including attendance and daily reports.
- Follow all centre policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members to create a welcoming and supportive community.
Qualifications
Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate (Level 1 or higher)
Valid Infant/Child First Aid and CPR certification.
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year classroom experience in early childhood education or childcare settings is necessary
- Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities or special needs
- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans, child records, and classroom materials effectively
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members
- Knowledge of computer operation for educational software, documentation, and communication tools
- Familiarity with teaching methods tailored to early childhood development stages
