We are currently accepting applications for summer students interested in working as a Youth Services Worker
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with as outlined:

be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
-
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Note: International students are not eligible participants.
What you'll get to do:
Assist in designing a structured summer activity plan tailored to newcomer and refugee youth (ages 7–12), integrating academics, settlement learning, and recreation to strengthen adjustment and confidence.
Support the training and coordination of youth volunteers so they can effectively help deliver programming that meets the needs of newcomer children.
Work with Summer Program Staff to conduct targeted outreach to newcomer families, register participants, and reduce barriers to program access.
Facilitate and oversee daily activities that build academic skills, language development, creativity, and social interaction, creating a supportive environment for newcomer children.
Prepare pre- and post-program evaluations for parents and participants to help assess outcomes for newcomer and refugee youth, and document insights to improve future programming.
What you need to know/have:
Currently enrolled in high school, or recent graduate of a post-secondary program in Social Services, Community Development or a related field
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with diverse communities
- Strong research, organization, and documentation skills
Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with databases or CRM systems is an asset
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Language skills (e.g., Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi) are considered a strong asset
Ability to operate proficiently with Microsoft Office, online meeting tools and web-based applications is required
Location: Scarborough, ON
Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Compensation: $17.60 per hour
