MHH supports Transitional Aged Youth and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities, Complex Special Needs and a range of Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Due to our unique and purpose-built environment we support individuals who may be hard to place in most community support settings.

Job Location – Marsh Hill Homes – South Durham Region

Position Status – Full Time – flexible schedule days and some evenings required and on call support.

Hours of work – 40 hours per week

About the Role:

The Residential Coordinator is a critical position at Marsh Hill Homes. This position provides direct support and supervision to Shift supervisors and front-line staff. As a member of the leadership team this position is in direct contact with staff, individuals being supported, families and other stakeholders.

The Residential Coordinator works with the Regional Director to ensure the standards of care at Marsh Hill Homes are always met. This position blends direct support with ongoing coaching and mentoring to help lead and build a high performing staff team.

In this role you will:

Develop and lead a group of full time and part time professionals in supporting individuals with complex special needs in a high-quality residential environment. This role requires you to:

Lead staff in the implementation of their duties and the following of organisational policies and protocols
Provided primary care and supervision to staff and individuals supported by Marsh Hill Homes.
Support staff in providing care to individuals with activities of daily living.
Provide support and coaching to staff who are supporting individuals in the areas of social skills, communication and preferred recreational activities.
Contribute to solutions to barriers that may impact the quality of life of individuals we support and ensure individuals goals are met.
Support staff to understand and follow Behavioural Support Plans, Crisis Support Protocols as documented and directed.
Administer Medication as required and trained – ensure staff meet standards on administration of medication.
Provide on-call support to the program as part of the leadership team.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals supported their family, and care team.
Work with the Regional Director in the Quality Assurance process as well on ongoing staff development needs, administrative duties, and any other duties as they may be required.

Qualifications:

Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a Community College or University or Ministry approved private Career College and 3 years of related experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and additional staff supervision experience.
Solid understanding of Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and additional complex needs.
3 years of Supervisory experience in a similar work environment – ideally residential in nature.
Strong leadership and coaching skills, ability to support staff in a direct service capacity working side by side.
Strong interpersonal skills and a caring approach to working with adults with a developmental disability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience supporting individuals with daily care requirements, behaviour support plans and individual support plans.
Ability and interest to be a positive member of a dynamic team.
Must have the ability to physically support young adults and adults with complex needs.
Ability to complete and perform Crisis Intervention training (UMAB) – training provided as part of employment.
Understanding of Quality Assurance Measures an asset, training provided.
Valid drivers full G License with a clean record.
Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
Successful completion of a VSS police check.

Medical clearance in accordance with MHH policy on pre-employment medicals.
