Duties and Responsibilities:  

Build custom WordPress/WooCommerce, Next.js 
Proficient in developing in PHP, MySQL, Apache, Linux, Crontab 
Deep working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML & CSS 
Use AI coding agents for development

1. PHP Backend Development 

Design, develop, maintain, and optimize backend functionality using PHP. 
Develop reusable, maintainable, and well-structured backend components and services. 
Maintain and enhance existing company websites and microsites. 
Translate business and website requirements into practical backend technical solutions. 
Troubleshoot and resolve backend defects, performance issues, and production incidents. 
Refactor legacy code and improve overall code quality, maintainability, and scalability. 
Perform code reviews and establish appropriate backend development standards and best practices.

2. API Development & Integration 

Design, develop, maintain, and document RESTful APIs and other web service integrations. 
Integrate company websites and third-party platforms (i.e. HubSpot, Zoho, etc) through APIs. 
Implement secure API authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as OAuth 2.0, API keys, and tokens, where applicable. 
Handle API requests, responses, validation, error handling, logging, retries, and exception management. 
Troubleshoot API integration and data synchronization issues. 
Work with internal teams to understand API specifications and integration requirements. 
Maintain clear technical documentation for API endpoints and integrations.

3. Database Development 

Design, develop, and optimize database structures, queries, and backend data-processing logic. 
Work primarily with relational databases such as MySQL/MariaDB. 
Optimize SQL queries and database performance for high-traffic or data-intensive website functions. 
Maintain data integrity, consistency, security, and appropriate access controls. 
Support database migrations and backend data integration activities.

4. Website Performance, Security & Reliability 

Monitor and improve backend website performance, response times, and reliability. 
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in PHP applications, APIs, and database queries. 
Apply secure coding practices to protect company websites and data against common web vulnerabilities. 
Support vulnerability remediation, patching, dependency updates, and technical security improvements. 
Implement appropriate logging, monitoring, exception handling, and troubleshooting mechanisms. 
Support backup, recovery, and business continuity requirements related to web applications.

5. Testing, Deployment & Version Control 

Write and maintain appropriate, integration, and backend functional tests. 
Participate in testing, release, deployment, and post-deployment validation. 
Use Bitbucket Git and established version-control workflows to manage source code. 
Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment processes where applicable. 
Maintain development, testing/staging, and production environments in accordance with company practices.

6. Technical Leadership & Collaboration 

Serve as a senior technical resource for PHP backend development and API integration. 
Collaborate with IT, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders. 
Analyze complex technical issues and recommend practical, scalable solutions. 
Provide technical estimates, identify development risks, and communicate project status. 
Maintain technical documentation for key website architecture, integrations, configurations, and development processes. 
Research and recommend new technologies, tools, and development approaches where they can improve security, performance, or efficiency.

A self-starter who is able take ownership of projects and offer improvements
Understand project scope and whether projects can be completed in a timely manner

About You

PHP and MySQL: 4+yearswork experience
JavaScript, HTML, CSS: 4+yearswork experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
