About the Job: This full-time role, typically scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, supports warehouse operations, order fulfillment, honey house work, and seasonal beekeeping activities, including working around live honey bees. It is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on work in a small team environment and takes pride in keeping operations organized, accurate, and running smoothly.
This position requires a high degree of independence and personal responsibility. The successful candidate will be assigned duties and goals and must prioritize their time, shift priorities when needed, and ensure work is completed accurately and safely, with occasional check-ins. Proactivity, accountability, and strong organizational habits are essential.
Key Accountabilities:
- Perform honey house duties including cleaning equipment, assisting with honey extraction, and filling honey jars
- Assist with wax dipping of hive equipment while following established safety procedures for working with hot wax
- Assist with seasonal beekeeping tasks such as preparing equipment, moving hive components, and occasionally working hands-on with live bees
- Assist with manufacturing and assembly of products as needed, following drawings or prototypes, including some basic woodworking tasks
- Maintain the warehouse in a safe, clean, and organized condition at all times
- Accurately pick, pack and prepare customer orders for shipment, from small multi-item orders to pallet shipments
- Manage stock organization and assist with inventory tracking and periodic counts
- Receive and organize incoming inventory, including pallet shipments delivered to the loading dock
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts or pallet jacks, where qualified
- Maintain warehouse tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safety
- Assist with general cleaning and facility upkeep, including washrooms, garbage, and outdoor tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Highly organized and able to maintain an orderly workspace and accurate inventory
- Strong attention to detail and ability to distinguish between similar beekeeping components to ensure inventory and order fulfillment accuracy
- Self-directed, proactive, and accountable; able to manage assigned goals independently, prioritize tasks and ensure work is completed accurately and on time
- Comfortable working in a small team where individuals take ownership of their responsibilities
- Comfortable working around live honey bees
- Beekeeping experience or familiarity is an asset; candidates without experience must show a clear interest in learning beekeeping equipment, terminology, and seasonal operations
- Able to follow established safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly and performing tasks that may require bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
- Ability to provide friendly, confident service to customers and colleagues
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written
- Forklift experience is an asset but not required as training can be provided
