Your Opportunity:

Are you a Therapy Assistant with a passion for therapeutic recreation? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy working with patients with diverse and complex rehabilitation needs? If you are a collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, we invite you to join the Recreation Therapy team at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH). As a Therapy Assistant, you will support the delivery of rehabilitation services through direct and indirect patient care across the continuum of care for individuals of all ages, as well as contribute to non-clinical program activities. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centred care while demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, and strong ethical practice. In this role, you will have opportunities to contribute to quality improvement initiatives, program planning, and student supervision while continually developing your clinical knowledge through reflective practice and lifelong learning. Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited post-secondary Therapy Assistant diploma with a focus in Therapeutic Recreation. Previous experience in a clinical or rehabilitation setting and/or supporting individuals with physical, cognitive, neurological, or developmental disabilities. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential physical demands of the position, including frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting with patient transfers. The successful candidate must be able to safely transport patients by pushing and pulling occupied wheelchairs and therapy equipment in indoor, outdoor, and aquatic environments, and participate in therapeutic recreation interventions requiring sustained physical activity. Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong patient- and family-centred approach. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, and Word. Demonstrated critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to support safe patient care and effective clinical decision-making. A satisfactory performance record, attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through employment references. Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of Alberta Health Services: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a rehabilitation setting is preferred. Experience using Connect Care is considered an asset. Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and BLS training are assets.
