The role will involve close collaboration with geotechnical, geohazards, environmental, geological, civil, and other technical teams across Stantec.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior technical leadership in the planning, execution, interpretation, and reporting of near-surface geophysical investigations across Western Canada and in support of national projects.
- Lead and support geophysical programs using methods such as seismic refraction, MASW, downhole VSP, resistivity, GPR, electromagnetic methods, TEM, magnetics, and vibration monitoring, with familiarity in related acquisition and interpretation workflows.
- Support geophysical applications for infrastructure, environmental, geohazard, resource, and risk-mitigation projects, including characterization of soil stratigraphy, buried infrastructure, bedrock, shear wave velocity, and other subsurface features relevant to design and assessment.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, geohazards, environmental, hydrogeology, and engineering teams to develop integrated site characterization programs and practical client-focused solutions.
- Help establish and grow Stantec’s geophysics service offering in Western Canada in collaboration with the broader Canadian geophysics team.
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff, including geoscientists and staff with field-based geophysics experience, and help build technical and practical capability within the team.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope development, client discussions, and identifying opportunities to expand geophysical services within Stantec’s existing client base and project portfolio.
- Plan and lead field crews to safely acquire the data necessary to solve client challenges, including work in remote and logistically complex environments.
- Oversee project delivery including budgeting, scheduling, invoicing, coordination, technical quality, and timely execution of deliverables.
- Support the development and maintenance of safety documentation, procedures, and field practices required to build and sustain geophysical operations within Stantec.
- Contribute to equipment and software planning, acquisition strategy, and implementation as the geophysics practice grows.
- Build collaborative, respectful, and effective relationships within Stantec’s business lines, technical delivery groups, and key practitioners across Canada.
- Travel within Western Canada and elsewhere in Canada, as required for field programs, project delivery, team collaboration, and growth initiatives.
