The Opportunity:
AgroPlus is seeking a Sales Agronomist to join our team. This is a field-based role that combines agronomic knowledge, grower relationships, sales support, and hands-on involvement throughout the growing season.
You will work directly with growers and our internal team to provide practical agronomic recommendations, support product selection and positioning, and help customers make informed decisions throughout the crop production cycle.

As a Sales Agronomist, you will represent AgroPlus with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping growers succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Grower Relationships and Customer Support
- Build and maintain positive, trusted relationships with growers and industry partners
- Work with growers to understand their operations, production goals, and agronomic needs
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up throughout the growing season
- Respond to agronomic questions and product inquiries by phone, email, and in person
- Participate in grower meetings, local events, and customer engagement activities
- Develop a strong understanding of customers and their farming operations
Agronomic Support and Recommendations
- Provide practical agronomic advice related to crop nutrition, soil testing, field scouting, crop staging, and pest identification
- Assist growers with product recommendations, rates, and application timing based on field conditions and production goals
- Scout fields and identify crop, weed, insect, and disease concerns
- Interpret soil and field information and help develop practical crop management recommendations
- Stay current with crop production practices, product information, and emerging agronomic issues
- Communicate agronomic recommendations clearly and practically to growers
- Continue developing agronomic knowledge and confidence through experience, training, and collaboration with the AgroPlus team
Sales and Product Support
- Support the sale and positioning of seed, crop nutrition, and crop protection products
- Develop product knowledge and understand how products can provide value to growers
- Assist with grower agronomy meetings, field demonstrations, and customer education events
- Identify opportunities to support customer needs and contribute to sales growth
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, product offerings, and industry developments
- Contribute ideas to marketing, customer engagement, and local sales initiatives
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the AgroPlus agronomy, sales, operations, and management teams
- Share field observations, customer feedback, and agronomic information with colleagues
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment
- Support colleagues during busy seasonal periods and assist with shared team priorities
Operational and Field Support
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory to provide on-farm and in-field support
- Assist with product handling, delivery coordination, and seasonal field activities as required
- Support seasonal operational needs, including hands-on field and yard work
- Maintain accurate records of field visits, customer interactions, recommendations, and sales activities
- Maintain flexibility for peak-season hours, travel, and occasional overnight stays as required
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field
- Eligible for accreditation with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists
- Professional Agrologist or Certified Crop Advisor designation is an asset
- Experience in agronomy, ag retail, agricultural sales, crop consulting, or a related agricultural role is preferred
- Strong interest in crop production and supporting growers
- Working knowledge of crop production systems relevant to southern Alberta, including dryland environments
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivated, dependable, and customer-focused
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new technology and software
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the territory
- Willingness to assist with operational and team needs as required, including hands-on field and yard work, product handling, equipment operation, and supporting colleagues during peak periods
