We are looking for a dependable, compassionate, and professional individual to join our team as a Transfer Care / Mortuary Services Assistant.
About the Role
This position involves assisting with the respectful transfer of deceased individuals from hospitals, care homes, private residences, and other locations. The right person for this role will be calm under pressure, emotionally mature, physically capable, and able to represent Omega Mortuary Services with professionalism and care. Assisting with funerals and other various duties

This is an on-call position and may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
Duties may include:
- Assisting with removals and transfers of deceased individuals
- Assisting with funerals
- Providing dignified and respectful care at all times
- Communicating professionally with families, funeral homes, care staff, and coroners
- Following proper procedures, documentation, and chain-of-custody practices
- Maintaining cleanliness and readiness of vehicles, stretchers, equipment, and supplies
- Assisting with lifting, moving, and transferring individuals safely
- Representing Omega Mortuary Services with compassion, discretion, and professionalism
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A valid class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
- Reliable transportation
- Strong communication skills
- A calm, respectful, and professional presence
- Physical ability to assist with lifting and transfers
- Criminal record check
- Availability for on-call work, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Comfort working in the death care field
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience in funeral service, health care, emergency services, transport, or death care is considered an asset, but we are willing to train the right person.
