JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Secretary/ Clinic receptionist is a member of the multidisciplinary health care team providing services to members of the community. The Medical Secretary provides reception, clerical and administrative support functions and operates and maintains appointments, charts, and document management systems.
The Medical Secretary is a critical part of the client-centered, inter-professional team and serves as a champion of Metamed’s core mission and vision; and works in a manner that is consistent with the Metamed’s values, beliefs, core competencies and commitment to quality in service.
Timings:
M- F: 2:00 pm - 6:00pm
Saturdays : 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Preferably 2 to 5 years medical office administration experience, preferably in a community health and/or community-based setting
- Bachelors in science degree preferred
· Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with exception client relationship skills
· Familiarity with medical/ health terminology
· Experience working in a computerized environment and with computer software applications, advanced telephone systems and electronic records management including Microsoft Office and Practice Solutions (Electronic Medical Record). Previous experience of Accuro preferred
· Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under tight timelines, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
· Flexibility and ability to prioritize and to deal with changes in tasks with short notice
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship
· Commitment to the anti-racism, anti-oppression, and equity principles
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage Metamed’s primary clinic location in-person (located in Burlington, ON)
· Attend to phone-calls and Email inquiring, providing responses to all client in a timely fashion
· Schedule and confirm appointments including follow-ups
· Perform general clerical work, such as order supplies and maintaining inventory
· Maintain electronic filing system along with faxing/ E-mailing prescription orders
· Ability to provide information on Metamed service offerings in an engaging and effective manner
· Additional responsibilities may include creating content for online use, implementing pertinent medical
· Experience updating websites and social media platforms is a definite plus
Other benefits: Additional significant compensation will be provided if the incumbent participates in new revenue generation *subject to training and approval.
