CCI is hiring an Operations Manager to join our senior management team and help lead the next stage of growth in our specialized manufacturing business.
CCI is a Canadian manufacturer of custom composite products serving marine, industrial, communications, defence, aerospace, scientific, and other technical markets. Our work includes custom composites fabrication, radomes, marine components, tooling, shelters, enclosures, machined parts, and other engineered products.
This is a senior, hands-on operations leadership role in a high-mix manufacturing environment. We do a combination of custom one-off projects, contract work, and short-run production. We are looking for someone who can bring structure, planning discipline, calm leadership, and owner-minded judgment to a skilled shop team.
You do not need to be a composites expert. We already have strong technical people. What we need is a strong operations leader: someone who can plan the work, manage resources, follow up on commitments, keep production moving, maintain quality discipline, and help the business grow.
The Opportunity
This is not a narrow production supervisor role. The Operations Manager will become a key member of CCI’s senior management team and will be responsible for day-to-day manufacturing operations.
The role is intended for someone who wants meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to help shape the future of a respected, specialized Canadian manufacturing company. The successful candidate will work closely with the President and will become the company’s senior operations leader on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will manage and coordinate manufacturing operations, including:
· Production planning and scheduling.
· Labour, equipment, material, and resource allocation.
· Shop-floor priorities and daily follow-up.
· Purchasing coordination and long-lead material planning.
· Inventory and material readiness.
· Labour tracking and timesheet review.
· Job performance and production efficiency.
· Quality travellers, sign-offs, and production documentation.
· ISO 9001 process discipline.
· Controlled Goods awareness and compliance support.
· Plant maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.
· Coordination with sales and technical staff on schedules, commitments, and project requirements.
· Supporting a skilled team while improving accountability, communication, and operational performance.
The Operations Manager will have direct reports and real authority to assign priorities, improve procedures, address performance issues, approve appropriate purchases, and stop work where quality or safety is at risk.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who has successfully managed people, schedules, priorities, and production resources in a manufacturing, fabrication, technical, military, maintenance, logistics, or industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
· Plan and organize complex, high-mix work.
· Balance customer-requested delivery dates against realistic production capacity.
· Work effectively with skilled tradespeople and experienced technical staff.
· Read drawings and understand tolerances and manufacturability.
· Keep people accountable without creating unnecessary conflict.
· Maintain quality standards even when schedules are tight.
· Use business systems, spreadsheets, time-tracking tools, and reports.
· Improve systems without burying the company in bureaucracy.
· See the shop through the eyes of an owner.
Experience in composites is welcome but not required. Experience in aerospace, marine, machining, fabrication, cabinetmaking/millwork, automotive, defence, general manufacturing, military operations, logistics, or maintenance could all be relevant.
The Kind of Person Who Will Succeed Here
You will probably be a good fit if you are:
· Entrepreneurial.
· Detail-oriented.
· Calm under pressure.
· Firm but fair.
· Practical and hands-on.
· Collaborative.
· Respectful of people with deep technical skills.
· Comfortable in a small-business environment.
· Able to build trust with long-term employees.
· Serious about quality, safety, commitments, and reputation.
You will not be a good fit if your management style is overly rigid, bureaucratic, confrontational, or dismissive of experienced shop-floor employees.
We have a skilled team, including long-term employees who know their work extremely well. The right Operations Manager will bring organization and accountability while preserving the culture, flexibility, and mutual respect that make the company work.
Working Conditions and Compensation
This is a full-time onsite position based in Arnprior, Ontario.
The standard work week is 40 hours. Core hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexible start and end times.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and fit. The company provides employer-paid medical and dental benefits. Life insurance and long-term disability coverage are employee-paid. Vacation and any bonus structure will be discussed individually.
Preferred start date: no later than September 1.
