Financial Controller - Drayton, ON

Our client is a Canadian, family-owned business based in Drayton, Ontario, deeply rooted in the livestock and grain industries. As a trusted partner for farm producers, they specialize in delivering innovative nutritional services and high-quality products designed to drive economic growth and sustainability for their clients. Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to oversee their accounting and financial operations.

Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversee inventory valuations and counts to ensure accuracy.
Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes and monitor financial performance against established budgets.
Provide financial reports, analysis, and strategic recommendations to support business planning and decision-making.
Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships and financial arrangements.
Coordinate year-end financial reviews or audits and serve as the primary liaison with external accountants.
Ensure compliance with tax filings, government reporting, and accounting regulations.
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA designation.
5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Experience in the agricultural sector is an asset.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
