Early Childhood Educator/Educational Assistant
Required for Ashmont School
Ashmont School requires an Early Childhood Educator and Educational Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time hourly position that is split 50/50 between the two roles and includes a comprehensive benefit plan. We seek a committed, reliable, positive, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children in the early learning environment.
Early Childhood Educator Specific Skills:

Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Caring and nurturing personality.

Ability to manage a classroom independently.

Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.

Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding the abilities, interests, and needs of children.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and other service providers working with children.

Applicants are expected to understand trauma-informed practices or be committed to building this capacity to support student well-being and inclusive learning environments.

Work collaboratively with the Certified Kindergarten Teacher on appropriate extension activities.
Qualifications:

Alberta Child Care Certification of Child Development Supervisor (formerly Level 3) or Alberta Child Care Certification of Child Development Worker (Formerly Level 2) with experience.

Other education that would be considered an equivalent may be considered,

Experience working with the “Flight” Curriculum would be an asset.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required.

In 1995, parent and community stakeholders initiated the amalgamation of five school boards into what is now St. Paul Education. In doing so, St. Paul Education became the only school division in Alberta to operate both separate and public schools under one board.
