Full job description

Sweet-o-one is looking for a Pastry Cook to join our cake production team.

This is a full-time, year-round position with a regular Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule, with occasional overtime during major holiday periods.

We’re a small, established European-style bakery with a close-knit team and a strong focus on quality, consistency and presentation. This is a hands-on production role centered primarily around assembling, finishing and decorating cakes from our established collection.

If you enjoy working with cakes and pastry, like seeing a polished finished product at the end of your work, and prefer a stable production environment over constantly changing custom designs, this may be a great fit.

What you'll be doing

Assembling and filling cakes
Covering and finishing cakes with creams and other finishes
Decorating cakes according to our established designs and standards
Working as part of our production team to complete daily cake orders efficiently
Completing some cakes independently from assembly through final decoration
Occasionally assisting with finishing and decorating pastries and other desserts
Following established recipes, procedures and production schedules
Keeping your work area clean and organized and following food-safety standards

Our cake production is a mix of team-based and independent work. Some production is completed assembly-line style, while at other times you'll take a cake from start to finish yourself.

Who we're looking for

You don't need to be an elaborate custom-cake artist. We're looking for someone with good hands, an eye for detail and some practical bakery, pastry or cake experience who can become fast and confident within our production system.

You'll be a good fit if you:

Have previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen or cake-production environment
Are comfortable assembling, finishing and decorating cakes
Care about neatness, consistency and presentation
Can work efficiently while maintaining quality
Are comfortable with repetitive production work and being on your feet throughout the shift
Are able to follow established methods and reproduce the same product consistently
Take feedback well and are willing to learn our techniques and production system
Are reliable, punctual and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
