Full job description

Cornerstone is a wedding, catering, and events company dedicated to celebrating life's greatest moments. Comprised of Cornerstone Weddings, Cornerstone Catering & Events, and Cornerstone Cafe, we build the foundation for unforgettable memories through the celebration of love, gourmet food, and personalized service, all in the inspiring backdrop of the Canadian Rockies.

Cornerstone Cafe is looking for a great team player to join us at the Canmore Nordic Centre. We are currently looking for an experienced Cafe Attendant/Barista to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. Reasonably priced staff accommodation is available for full-time staff in this position.

Duties of the position include:

Greeting customers to Cornerstone Cafe.
Serving customers and preparing specialty beverages.
Serving sandwiches, soups, chilis, and other food items.
Assisting with the preparation/cooking of soups, chilis, baked goods, and other food items for the Cafe and events.
Using various commercial kitchen equipment, such as a grill, deep fryers, griddle, food processors, etc. to make items on the Cafe menu.
Following all food handling regulations and complying with all company policies and procedures.
Washing dishes using a commercial dishwasher.
Accepting payment for purchases.
Performing a cash-out at the end of each shift.
Informing the Cafe Supervisor or Chef when stock is running low.
Keeping the cafe clean and tidy during shift and cleaning the area at the end of the day.
Responding immediately and appropriately to any situations, including emergency situations, that may arise at the Cafe.

Experience:

We are looking for someone with previous kitchen experience, having worked as a kitchen assistant or prep cook; experience working as a barista or server would also be beneficial. The person in this role needs to be customer-focused, enjoy interacting with the public, and be punctual and reliable. The working environment involves working within a small team or sometimes independently.

ProServe certification is required in this role. Preference will be given to those who have a food handling certificate and a current WHMIS certificate.

Please note: This position is at the Canmore Nordic Centre. There is bus service to the Nordic Centre during the summer season. Living in the area or having a vehicle or other reliable means of getting to the work location is a consideration for this position.
