The IOOF has recently embarked on the largest capital project in the IOOF’s history, with the launch of a $1.2 million redevelopment campaign to expand the facility to a 226-bed long-term care home. This transformative revitalization will create 64 new long-term care beds and 66 upgraded beds, modern spaces, updated equipment, private rooms, and increased square footage.
The IOOF is looking for a strong communicator to assume a summer position, who is results-oriented and can work collaboratively with our fundraising development team. The candidate will work closely with volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders to successful execute the IOOF’s fundraising initiatives.
The Fundraising Assistant will play a key role by helping with event planning and sponsorship recruitment for the IOOF’s signature event – the Young at Heart Motorcycle Ride.
A background in marketing and communications, graphic design, fundraising, or event planning is an asset.

Skills & Qualifications
- Post Secondary students currently enrolled in any of the following programs: Marketing and Communications, Graphic Design, Event Planning, Business.
- Educational background and/or experience in business, marketing, graphic design, fundraising, or event planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) for digital marketing
- Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable with making cold calls (reaching out to local businesses and others in the community for donations and sponsorships
- Ability to work independently, multi task/manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve results on deadlines
- Strong initiative and customer service orientation
- Organizational and prioritizing skills, problem solving skill, detail and deadline oriented
- Interest in assisting with marketing and fundraising needs of a long-term care home
Responsibilities:
- Procuring lists of past/current/potential donors and sponsors
- Reaching out to businesses for donations and sponsorship
- Develop design strategies and creative concepts to share with the team
- Prepare files for print and review materials, proofs to meet standard
- Keeping detailed records of businesses contacted and their responses
- Preparing print materials and supplies for events, assisting with running the events, as well as aiding with setup and clean-up
- Visiting businesses in person to request/pick up donations
- Other duties as assigned
Other Assets:
- A reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license is an asset, but not required.
- Able to flex hours for some events that may require working into the evening or on weekends.
