Raise is currently hiring for a Lab Technologist for Foster Creek, Alberta and a Field Lab Sampling Technician for Christina Lake South, Alberta on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
Our client is seeking a skilled and safety-focused a Lab Technologist for Foster Creek, Alberta and a Field Lab Sampling Technician for Christina Lake South, Alberta to support their oil sands facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, testing, and analyzing oil, gas, and water samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate and reliable results that support safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis of oil, gas, and water samples using established laboratory procedures.

Conduct sample collection and field sampling activities as required.

Enter, verify, and maintain laboratory data and test results.

Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.

Perform and document daily Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities.

Ensure testing is completed in accordance with approved laboratory procedures and standards.

Maintain laboratory chemicals, reference standards, consumables, and inventory levels.

Maintain accurate laboratory records, calibration logs, and supporting documentation.

Identify and report safety, environmental, equipment, or process concerns.

Support investigation and troubleshooting of sample, process, and instrument-related issues.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other laboratory personnel to support facility requirements.
Qualifications
-
Hands-on Lab Technologist who enjoys practical laboratory work and takes pride in producing accurate results that support safe and reliable operations. The ideal candidate has experience working with laboratory instrumentation, performing routine testing, troubleshooting equipment issues, and contributing to a strong safety culture.

Minimum 2 years of industrial laboratory experience.

Experience performing routine analytical testing in an industrial setting.

Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, testing procedures, and equipment maintenance.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Assets
-
Experience in oil sands, SAGD, refinery, petrochemical, or energy-industry laboratory environments.

Experience analyzing oil, water, and gas samples.

Experience with QA/QC programs and laboratory quality systems.

Experience with sample collection and field sampling activities.

Familiarity with ASTM and other laboratory testing standards.

Education and Certifications

Diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology, Chemical Technology, or related laboratory technology program
