POSITION SUMMARY:
Before and Afterschool program staff will work in local schools within the Belleville and Trenton community with children aged 4-12 years of Age. Monday to Friday 7:30-9:30AM and either 2:00-6:00PM or 3:00-6:00PM. Staff work between 20-30 hours per week with opportunities for mid-day on call supply shifts in our licensed childcare centre.

WAGE: $20.00 Hourly.
VACANCY: Hiring for multiple roles (4-5).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the YMCA’s “A Place to Connect” curriculum is followed and all standards are exceeded with respect to the quality assurance and guidelines.
- Incorporate learning experiences designed to meet the individual needs of the children, using a variety of teaching techniques.
- Establish and maintain positive daily communication with children, families, YMCA staff and community contacts.
- Act as a professional role model for children, volunteers, students and fellow staff members.
- Work together as an integral part of a team that meets the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of all children in the childcare program.
- Participate in all YMCA trainings, meetings and childcare events.
- Provide positive social experiences including sharing, cooperation and role modeling the YMCA core values – Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Inclusiveness and Kindness.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE POSITION:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma (RECE) or CYC Diploma preferred
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Experience working with children ages 4-12 years of age
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and requirements
- Knowledge of YMCA Playing to Learn an asset
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Up to Date Immunizations
- Ability to commute to and from childcare locations within Belleville and Trenton
EXPERIENCE:
- Registered Early Childhood Educator and Child and Youth Worker, and Recreational Leadership Graduates will be preferred candidates. Those with diplomas in related fields such as SSW, or DSW, criminal and youth justice will be considered.
- Anyone over the age of 18 with minimum of High School Diploma with experience working with children ages 4-12, though those with RECE or CYC diploma’s preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Staff will work in local area school with in Belleville and Trenton communities
- Staff are expected to have reliable transportation to and From work
- They will build relationships with school staff and other community partners
- And may be required to work at various programs depending on the program needs
