Full job description

Description:

Clinic at the Corner is a busy family medicine clinic in Belleville, Ontario. The successful candidate will work closely with the other office staff and three family physicians.

The medical receptionist is a front-facing member of the clinic team who will play an essential role in setting the tone for patients. They will also be integral to maintaining patient flow during the clinic day, and ensuring timely access to care by triaging incoming appointment requests. They will follow procedures to ensure that patients are scheduled appropriately, communicate messages by phone, liaise with other offices, and play a role in accounting and reconciliation. We are looking for a candidate who will be kind and compassionate to our patients, who will uphold the principles of medical ethics, who will be diligent in keeping detailed and accurate records, and who can think on their feet to address the unpredictable demands in primary care.

Computer and keyboarding skills

Relevant experience includes:

Knowledge of medical terminology, medical ethics, and/or health systems
Experience working with the public, including customer service
Particular experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset
Experience working with computer software (scheduling, billing, etc.)

Tasks and responsibilities:

Establish a welcoming environment for patients of Clinic at the Corner
Communicate with patients in person and by phone to schedule appointments
Take careful notes and accurate documentation of patient interaction and interaction with other health care facilities
Maintain the physician schedules in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Triage incoming requests, with support of the clinic RN and physicians, to ensure appointments are booked with appropriate urgency
Liaise with other offices and pharmacies utilizing telephone, mail, and fax
Input incoming information into the EMR including test results, forms, prescription renewal requests, etc.
Invoice and manage payment for services that are not covered by OHIP
Other duties as assigned

Hours:

This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30. Additional shifts are required on occasion when the clinic provides mandatory urgent care coverage in the evenings and on Saturday.

Wages:

This position is paid hourly starting at $21 per hour and scaling with relevant experience. This position includes paid vacation but does not offer additional benefits.

Supervision:

This position is under direct supervision of the Office Manager.
