Full job description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for safely, effectively, and efficiently processing work orders. The position of Compounder is directly accountable to the Production Manager for driving results that contributes to Concord Compounding's success in the following key business areas: Safety, Quality and Delivery. This position is responsible for operating compound equipment to produce PVC pellets within the specification of the order while adhering to health and safety and quality standards.

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:

*A premium is paid on all hours worked on the afternoon ($0.50) and night shifts ($1.00).

Candidate must be able to work a rotating shift (Nights, Afternoons and Days)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety: Create and reinforce an environment of safe work practices and safe work conditions.

Quality: Show personal commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to those outside and inside the Company.

Delivery: Show interest, passion, energy, and willingness in performing assigned tasks.

Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives in all related activities

Job-specific tasks:

Monitor all raw material augers and hoppers at required levels
Safely operate compound production lines (Start up, Shut down, Changeover)
Safely operate compounding equipment
Assist Compound Lead hand personnel, as required
Perform material handling, storage, shipping, receiving, and packaging of finished goods
Safely operate forklift
Evaluate product quality and adjust if required
Monitor processing conditions and report discrepancies
Keep work area clean and free of hazards
Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards
Comply with established safety rules, company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Productivity: Respond to, propose, and implement effective solutions to quality problems to increase efficiency and reduce costs; accept overtime and flexible work schedules as required within department or company; participate in cross-training

Attendance and Reliability: Show consistent punctuality and follow Company policy with regards to attendance.

Initiative: Once trained, work with little supervision; recognize and perform tasks that need to be completed although not directly assigned; help others as needed; and perform tasks as requested by management

Judgment & Decision-making: Show good judgment in investigating problems and suggesting effective solutions; respect the confidentiality of company, customer, and supplier information

Teamwork: Treat others with dignity and respect. Contribute to a pleasant work environment; listen to and respect co-workers; maintain a cooperative working relationship with others; provide and accept constructive feedback; and provide other employees with appropriate support

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Ability to reliably commute to work.
High School diploma, or equivalent
Experience in operating equipment, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Able to communicate in English effectively (read, write, verbal and aural comprehension)
Basic understanding of manufacturing operations and control systems
Self-starter who is able to achieve customer satisfaction by meeting commitments and taking accountability; being willing to cross-train to gain additional skills and use job knowledge; and taking a common-sense approach to problem-solving
Must work well under pressure; able to work productively both independently with minimum supervision and on a team to meet deadlines
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. /23 kgs
Customer-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and delivery
Basic computer skills

Pay: $21.00 per hour
