We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Purchasing & Packaging Development Coordinator to join our team. This role combines purchasing responsibilities with the coordination and development of product packaging in collaboration with our design and marketing teams.
Position Summary
The Purchasing & Packaging Development Coordinator is responsible for managing product procurement and logistics, maintaining supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and leading packaging development projects from concept through production. Working closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and the design team, this individual will help ensure products are purchased efficiently, packaging is delivered on time, and brand standards are maintained across all packaging initiatives.
Duties
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Place and manage purchase orders for inventory.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and product specifications where appropriate.
- Track orders and shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Resolve supplier, shipping, and inventory discrepancies.
- Managing all overseas purchasing from product development to production, inspection, and shipping of goods.
- P.O. creation, vendor set-up, invoice tracking, payment schedules.
- Co-ordinating and managing all international freight / logistics. The movement of all ordered goods from source origin to destination.
- Directing all packaging and brand development as required. Work with remote design teams based in the USA.
- Produce and manage product content for use by ecom and sales teams.
- Building of Shipments in company software to accurately enter costs to ensure correct landed costing is applied to all reeipts.
- Maintenance and publishing of import status report used by inhouse teams.
- Negotiation with current and protentional carriers always striving to find the most cost-effective methods to move goods from Origin to plant.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor information.
- Support inventory forecasting and purchasing planning.
- Manage packaging revision projects, including artwork updates, regulatory changes, and product launches.
- Review packaging proofs and samples for accuracy prior to production.
- Collaborate with warehouse, sales, marketing, and operations teams to support business objectives.
- Assist with new product launches and product transition projects.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, packaging coordination, or a related role.
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, consumer products, manufacturing, or retail environments is preferred.
- Experience coordinating packaging, artwork, labeling, or print production projects is an asset.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP, purchasing, or inventory management systems is preferred
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
