EarlyON - CASUAL:
- Hourly rate of $25.94 per hour AM and PM during the day at EarlyON Centres. (Monday to Saturday) Hours may vary.
School Age - CASUAL:
- Hourly rate of $25.94 per hour AM Shift: 7 am to 8am (Monday to Friday)
- Hourly rate of $25.94 per hour PM Shift: 3pm to 6pm (Monday to Friday)
The RECE is responsible for assisting with the program delivery of the Links2Care EarlyON CFC program OR planning and implementing a fun and age appropriate Before and After School program for children in a group setting (classroom or gymnasium) in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, municipal guidelines and the policies and procedures of Links2Care and the Links2Care Children’s programs. Responsibilities and Duties
- Comply with agency policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, including financial and human resource protocols.
- Represent the mission, values, and philosophy of Links2Care in the community and professional settings.
- Implement EarlyON and School-Age programs in alignment with the Child Care and Early Years Act, municipal guidelines, and internal policies.
- Plan and deliver programs using diverse child development techniques that respond to the needs and interests of children.
- Maintain a safe and healthy program and working environment; report concerns to the Supervisor as appropriate.
- Follow and adhere to licensing requirements for childcare programs.
- Accurately collect and maintain client information and complete required documentation (e.g., program plans, attendance, schedules, health and safety protocols) in accordance with Links2Care confidentiality/privacy policies, PHIPA, and PIPEDA.
- Evaluate program activities, monitor effectiveness, and report outcomes to Supervisor(s).
- Provide direction and guidance to Educator Assistants and assist in training and mentoring students, new staff, and volunteers.
- Facilitate cultural understanding and promote anti-racist and non-sexist integration through inclusive experiences and play materials.
- Participate in staff meetings, team discussions, and professional development activities (e.g., conferences, workshops).
- Maintain positive relationships with networks, professional organizations, and service providers.
- Account for any program-related funds as assigned.
- Actively promote Links2Care programs and services through community events, outreach, fundraising, and marketing activities.
- Provide basic CPR/First Aid as needed and report all accidents, injuries, and occurrences in writing.
- The position is physically demanding and requires a significant amount of time standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting or walking in the school.
- The assistant is expected to participate in student activities and must regularly lift or carry materials.
- May be required to lift items up to 22 kilograms (50 lbs).
- Sometimes heavier lifting may be required to help children move in and out of wheelchairs, on and off of play areas etc.
- May use mechanical lifts for students and operate related equipment on an occasional basis.
- RECE's require sufficient vision and hearing to perform related job duties.
- Some of the unpleasant aspects of the work environment are: contact with infectious diseases, noise level, dealing with uncooperative, difficult and demanding students.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support Links2Care programs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be a Registered ECE and maintain registered membership with the College of ECE along with professional knowledge and competencies.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families in a group setting.
- Valid Standard Level “C” CPR/First Aid Certification. Safe Food Handling an asset.
- An understanding of the needs of children, parents/guardians.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Genuine interest in providing professional customer service and compassionate care to clients served.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team, interacting in a positive way with staff, families, stakeholders and the general public.
- Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS) and Criminal Records Check prior to employment and throughout employment is required.
- Ability to work varied shifts. Scheduled hours are based on availability and program needs. A commitment to working scheduled hours during the school year is expected.
- Physically capable with the ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 50lbs.
- Employees who travel for work related purposes must have reliable transportation, a valid Ontario driver’s license and a minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance coverage.
