Hatch is seeking a motivated Process Engineering Co-op Student, specializing in pyrometallurgy, with an interest in an 8-, 12- or 16-month internship starting in Sep 2026. You will work on a variety of client-driven projects to support all sectors within the metals business. This role is based in our Global Headquarter in Mississauga, ON.

Responsibilities:
- Solve engineering challenges pertaining to process metallurgy, high temperature thermochemistry, and pyrometallurgical processes for metals and critical minerals.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering teams and collaborative technical environment.
- Actively participate in the creation of technical reports and presentations to clients.
- Assist in the research and development of new metallurgical and process technologies.
- Assist with developing and application of process models and simulation tools.
- Assist with interpretation and analysis of simulation and field data as well as developing test work programs
- Assist with preparation of engineering deliverables and calculations, such as mass and energy balances, design criteria, drawings, engineering reports, facility layout, hazard studies, cost estimation, etc.
- Assist with project management tasks within the scope, schedule, and budget constraints provided by the process engineers and project managers
Education and Experience:
- Preference for 3rd or 4th year Engineering student,
- Preference for Chemical, Materials, and Metallurgical Engineering candidates or those pursuing relevant majors
- Preference for previous co-op experiences or research / capstone project in a related field or topic.
- Strong academic record a must
Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):
- Good understanding of process engineering and metals industry fundamentals as they apply to engineering challenges and projects
- Good knowledge of process metallurgy, high temperature thermochemistry, thermodynamics, and metallurgical / extractive / material processes.
- Good skills in preparing process and engineering calculations, mass & energy balances, and process drawings.
- Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges, adapts and embraces change
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated, with a positive attitude and an ability to understand innovation, shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving
- Strong programming skills considered a major plus
Compensation:
Range: $26.00 - $33.00

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
