Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 (depending on candidate's prior experience)

The firm is dedicated to advocating for clients' legal rights and providing personalized legal solutions.

About the Role

PMalik Law Firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lawyer to join our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently called or early-career lawyer looking to develop strong advocacy skills while working on a diverse range of Family Law and Civil Litigation matters with exposure to other areas of the law. The Junior Lawyer will assist the senior lawyer with conducting research, drafting legal documents, preparing evidence, and representing clients in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and assist with family law and civil litigation files from intake through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, agreements, and legal correspondence with a high level of precision
Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and CanLII
Represent clients in court, including motions, case conferences, and other appearances
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
Support senior counsel in litigation strategy, file preparation, and case management
Maintain organized and up-to-date file records while managing multiple priorities
Administrative and billing responsibilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent from an accredited institution
Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
2–3 years of experience in Family Law and/or Civil Litigation
Strong legal drafting and research skills are essential
Ability and willingness to attend court regularly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Organizational and time-management skills for managing multiple cases and deadlines
Familiarity with Family Law, Civil Litigation, and other relevant legal areas is an asset.
Familiarity with PCLaw
