Position and Area: Applied Music Sessional (AMS) – Violin
Estimated AMS Appointments Available: 1 to 2 with 24, hour-long lessons in-person per AMS appointment.
Sessional Dates: September 2026 to April 2027
Salary: $112.44/hour
Qualifications: Graduate degree in violin performance or equivalent professional experience. Doctoral degree preferred. Ongoing performing activities encompassing a wide range of orchestral, solo, and chamber repertoire. Demonstrated excellence teaching violin at the university level.
Duties: Define lesson objectives and materials; provide clear guidelines on studio requirements and regulations; teach lessons as scheduled; administer and evaluate student progress through assigned repertoire and exercises; ensure that the Strings Area and Performance Division requirements are met in regard to culminating juries and recitals; prepare and submit final grade and comments in accordance with policy and scheduled deadlines; maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
