Full job description

Location: Ayr, Ontario (Near Cambridge, Kitchener/Waterloo)

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Friday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner for our Ayr, Ontario location.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Partnership & Employee Relations

Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on employee relations, workplace concerns, performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, and progressive discipline.
Partner with leaders to identify workforce needs and support initiatives that drive employee engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
Navigate complex employee situations with professionalism, sound judgement, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
Support employee programs and company events that enhance the employee experience.

Talent Development & Training

Design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate training programs for employees, including onboarding, compliance training, and technical skills development.
Collaborate with leaders to identify skill gaps and implement learning solutions that build organizational capability and support business objectives.
Monitor training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Identify gaps in employee development and recommend solutions to support operational and organizational success.

HR Operations & Compliance

Support the delivery and continuous improvement of core HR programs, including talent management, employee relations, leave administration, disability management, and health and safety initiatives.
Oversee the temporary workforce program, serving as the primary liaison between the company and recruitment agencies to coordinate temporary staffing requirements in response to changing business demands.
Maintain HR records, HRIS data, employee files, and related documentation.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and company policies.
Collect, analyze, and interpret HR and business data to support decision-making, KPI’s, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Policies, Procedures & Continuous Improvement

Develop, update, and maintain HR policies, procedures, training materials, and employee communications.
Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and programs while supporting organizational change initiatives.
Provide guidance on policy interpretation and implementation across the organization.

Payroll Administration & Backup Support

Provide backup support for weekly hourly and salaried payroll processing to ensure continuity of operations.
Assist with payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, and employee inquiries as required.
Support the administration of employee benefits, pension programs, wage increases, and employee status changes.
Maintain accurate employee and payroll records while ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive employment and compensation information.
Assist with the management of payroll-related processes, including overpayments, disability-related benefit impacts, and employee inquiries.
Partner with Payroll & Finance to resolve payroll-related issues and support continuous process improvement.

Disability Management & Benefits Support

Coordinate employee leaves, accommodation processes, and disability management programs
Support the administration of employee benefits, pension plans, and compensation-related programs as required.

Key Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards designation is considered an asset.
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
Experience with payroll and time & attendance systems is required (ADP and Kronos/UKG experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, employee relations, and HR best practices.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and relationship building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to analyze, interpret, and present data effectively to a variety of audiences.
Self-directed and motivated leader who promotes best practice and leads by example.
Familiarity with industry quality management standards (IATF16949) is an asset.
