Position Overview:
APEX's Brantford team is currently hiring a reliable, dog-savvy Kennel Attendant on a part-time, weekend basis.
This role is essential to maintaining the well-being and routine of dogs in our care. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments and is detail-oriented, punctual, and compassionate.
Responsibilities
- Take dogs out for structured walks and potty breaks in designated relief areas
- Feed dogs according to individualized meal schedules and dietary needs
- Clean food and water bowls, and tidy up kennel areas as needed
- Monitor dogs for signs of stress, illness, or injury and report any concerns promptly
- Ensure safe handling protocols are followed at all times
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and confident presence around dogs
- Support the team in maintaining structure and cleanliness during evening hours
- Handle heavy lifting tasks related to animal care, such as moving supplies or assisting with larger animals.
Skills
- Previous experience in professional dog handling (required)
- Valid G-class driver's license or reliable means of transportation (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and behavioural types
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Physically capable of lifting as required for animal care and large animal handling
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a willingness to learn about their needs.
- Commitment to humane, structured, relationship-based training practices
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain cleanliness and order within the facility.
