Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a senior level Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations through a hands-on leadership approach to evolve the company forward, optimize efficiency, ensure targets are met, and ensure excellence across production, quality, and logistics. The ideal candidate will have a well established history of operational experience and positive results.

Role Overview

The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the manufacturing operation including the planning, coordination, and execution of daily plant operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic planning with practical execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and has strong experience in food/beverage manufacturing or packaging.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily production operations to meet quality, safety, and efficiency/output targets.
Ensure all planning and preparation for production schedules is in place.
Apply next level thinking to drive continuous improvement and evolution throughout the facility.
Manage scheduling of production runs, inventory, and staffing.
Promptly identify key challenges and deficiencies and engage the proper resources as necessary to resolve.
Work in strong partnership with Quality Control & Assurance to ensure a quality first commitment
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, CFIA, FDA, etc.).
Employ a servant leadership approach to lead, train, and support production staff to foster a safe, efficient, and positive workplace.
Collaborate with leadership to qualify new opportunities, prepare budgets, plan capacity, and manage resources.
Oversee and ensure accurate management of supplies inventories.
Monitor KPIs such as yield, downtime, cost per unit, and customer order fulfillment.
Work closely with suppliers, co-pack clients, and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support company growth.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
Support the scaling of the facility, including equipment upgrades, automation, and process improvements.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in operations management, ideally within food & beverage manufacturing or packaging.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and motivate a team.
Solid understanding of food safety regulations, GMP, SQF and HACCP.
Experience with production scheduling, inventory control, and supply chain management.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
Comfortable in a hands-on role with a growing company where adaptability is key.
Strong communication skills to work with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
Proficiency with production management software, ERP systems, or related tools (an asset).
