Sutherland-Schultz is seeking a driven Electrical Estimator that has a passion for digging into complex tasks and finding effective solutions, with a sincere desire to grow and develop. Our ideal candidate will constantly strive to provide excellent service to our customers, and our project management team.

Functions of the job:

Lead pre-estimation activities including sourcing and reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements
Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to assess project conditions, identify risks, and evaluate overall bid viability
Analyze tender documents and provide informed recommendations on the quality and competitiveness of bid opportunities
Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labour, and equipment
Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential cost-saving opportunities during the estimating process
Prepare accurate and competitive bid packages within required timelines
Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with applicable standards and regulations (CEC, COR, CWB, ESA, ISO, OESC, TSSA, and other governing bodies)
Support the development of project scope definitions, contract documentation, and bid submissions
Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination, including pricing, negotiations, and relationship management
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure alignment between estimate and execution

Who is the ideal candidate?

10+ years Electrical Estimating experience
309A Electrician (Construction and Maintenance) preferred
PQS an asset
Construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
Proficiency in Microsoft, including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook
Experience with estimating software (Accubid Anywhere an asset)
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
High level of initiative and keen interest in construction and problem solving
