ROLE AND OBJECTIVES:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Junior Project Finance Analyst is an entry-level role responsible for supporting financial visibility across modular timber projects by monitoring project costs, revenue, gross margin, and related performance trends.

This position provides timely project reporting to the internal Project Management team, supports the Project Accounting team with project cost and revenue information, and assists the FP&A team with analysis, forecasting inputs, and reporting improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Analysis & Financial Monitoring:

Monitor project costs, revenue, gross margin, and related trends for modular timber projects.
Review project financial information for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness, escalating questions or variances as needed.
Assist with variance analysis by comparing actual project performance to budgets, forecasts, and expected margins.

Project Reporting & PM Support:

Prepare and distribute regular project reporting for the internal Project Management team.
Summarize project financial results in a clear and practical format for non-financial stakeholders.
Support project review discussions by preparing cost, revenue, margin, and forecast information.

Project Accounting & Month-End Support:

Assist the Project Accounting team with project cost tracking, revenue support, billing information, and month-end project analysis.
Help reconcile project information between operational reports, accounting records, and financial reporting outputs.
Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for month-end close, project reviews, and internal reporting requirements.
Support year-end audit preparation by gathering project-related backup and responding to information requests as directed.

Financial Planning & Analysis Support:

Support the FP&A team with project-related analysis, forecast inputs, margin reporting, and ad-hoc financial requests.
Contribute to the development and improvement of project KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Provide accurate and timely analysis to help identify risks, opportunities, and financial trends within the project portfolio.

Process Improvement:

Maintain project reporting files, data inputs, and supporting documentation in an organized and accurate manner.
Support improvements to project reporting, data quality, and financial workflows.
Collaborate with Finance, Project Accounting, FP&A, and Project Management to improve financial visibility and reporting consistency.

REQUIREMENTS:

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
CPA student or interest in pursuing CPA considered an asset
Previous co-op, internship, administrative, accounting, project coordination, or financial analysis experience is considered an asset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, timely reporting
Comfortable working with project cost, revenue, margin, and forecast information
Proactive communicator, able to translate financial concepts for non-financial teams
Collaborative, building strong cross-functional partnerships
Developing analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn project finance and project accounting concepts
Business insight and commercial awareness, connecting financial data to operational outcomes
Continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and reporting
Results-oriented, delivering accurate and timely insights that drive decisions
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning ERP, accounting, and reporting systems
Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management

WORK CONDITIONS:

Location: Castlegar, BC
Schedule: Monday - Friday

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

Salary: $50,000.00 - $62,000.00 (dependent on experience)
