The Opportunity

We’re seeking a motivated Junior Project Analyst with experience in complex job costing, and operational accounting who is ready to grow their career. With a collaborative team, modern tools, and opportunities for professional development, you’ll play a key role in delivering reliable services that support our companies and the communities they serve across the province.

The Junior Project Analyst is a vital link between our Operations, Project Management, and Finance teams. As a key relationship builder, you’ll enable accurate project reporting and empower decision-makers through timely insights, clear communication, and responsive support across the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, approachability, and strong analytical skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

Operate in accordance to and uphold Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all aspects of your work.

Uphold an unwavering commitment to developing a zero-injury culture, and meeting the Paving the Way to Zero goals.

Ensure project setups in the ERP system — including contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract compliance — are accurate and align with operational requirements.

Review project costs, payroll hours and expense classifications ahead of billing cycles to assist operations with financial clarity.

Prepare job cost adjustments and month-end accruals to ensure that costs are recognized accurately and in a timely manner.

Coordinate monthly invoicing, progress claims, and holdback processing in accordance with contract terms and project schedules.

Track and manage accounts receivable; conduct billing analysis to support cash flow and financial health across projects.

Build strong working relationships with project teams, accounting, leadership, and external stakeholders (e.g., joint venture partners) to foster transparency and trust.

Collaborate closely with internal departments (Operations, Accounting, Project Management) to ensure consistency in financial processes and help clarify financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Your Qualifications & Skills

Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in project accounting, job costing, cost control, or operational finance—preferably in construction, civil, or heavy industrial settings.
Strong knowledge of contract requirements for billing, subcontract compliance, change orders, and holdbacks.
Proficient in financial systems (experience with Vista Viewpoint is a strong asset); familiarity with ERP setups, reporting tools (e.g., Excel advanced features such as PivotTables, Lookups, etc.)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Ability to identify variances, root causes, and to communicate findings clearly.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Able to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
