What We Offer
We offer a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 per year, based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The Opportunity
The Donor Relations Team designs and delivers intentional, donor-centred experiences that ensure donors feel appreciated, recognized, and deeply connected to the difference they make. A strong donor experience program expresses gratitude, honours donor intent, and demonstrates impact of their gift and accountability through meaningful, consistent, and personalized engagement.
We collaborate closely with colleagues across the Foundation to guide donors seamlessly from cultivation to solicitation to stewardship and back to solicitation. By leading with strategy, insight, and care, we create authentic moments that strengthen long-term relationships and elevate philanthropy’s role in advancing health care in Richmond.

Reporting to the Chief Donor Experience Officer, the Manager, Donor Experience plays an important role in shaping, delivering, and continuously improving the Foundation’s donor experience, stewardship, and recognition efforts. Working collaboratively within the Donor Relations team and across Philanthropy, Marketing & Communications, and Operations, this role ensures donors receive thoughtful, timely, and inspiring engagement aligned with the Foundation’s joyful brand.
The Manager provides leadership through strategy and execution, overseeing key donor experience initiatives and stewarding assigned donor segments. They bring strong judgement, creativity, and accountability to the design and delivery of stewardship plans, donor recognition, naming initiatives, and engagement activities.
This is a hands-on, highly relational role suited to an experienced professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings genuine enthusiasm and a deep commitment to helping donors feel connected to the impact of their generosity.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Donor Experience Strategy & Stewardship Leadership
- Contribute to the development and advancement of the Foundation’s donor experience and stewardship strategy.
- Lead the planning and execution of donor experience initiatives across assigned donor segments.
- Develop and implement personalized donor experience and stewardship plans that honour donor intent and preferences.
- Ensure stewardship touchpoints are timely, meaningful, and aligned with Foundation standards and brand.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen donor retention, deepen engagement, and enhance long-term relationships.
- Monitor stewardship outcomes and recommend improvements informed by donor feedback, engagement trends, and organizational priorities.
Donor Recognition, Naming & Creative Stewardship
- Lead key components of the Foundation’s donor recognition and naming program, ensuring commitments are fulfilled accurately, equitably, and on time.
- Coordinate naming applications, approvals, recognition inventories, and recognition updates including signage, plaques, and donor walls.
- Maintain clear documentation and tracking of recognition commitments and fulfilment.
- Draft and guide high-quality donor-focused content including impact reports, donor updates, recognition moments, newsletters, scripts, and remarks.
- Recommend thoughtful recognition approaches that align with donor intent and enhance the donor experience.
- Coordinate celebration moments such as cheque presentations, unveilings, and donor milestones.
Donor Events, Engagement Activities & Tours
- Lead the planning and delivery of donor engagement, recognition, and cultivation experiences such as tours, milestone celebrations, and intimate gatherings.
- Manage event logistics, guest experience, materials, and follow‑up in collaboration with internal partners.
- Work with Marketing & Communications on invitations, presentations, videos, and creative assets aligned with the joyful brand.
- Identify new and innovative ways to steward donors and strengthen connections to impact.
Internal & External Relationships
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with donors, clinical partners, volunteers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Work closely with Philanthropy colleagues to understand donor motivations, preferences, and needs.
- Represent the Donor Relations function with professionalism, warmth, and credibility.
- Lead or support cross-functional projects that advance donor experience priorities.
Administration
- Understands the Foundation’s key priorities and supports the execution of the annual Donor Relations plan within set budgets in partnership with the CDEO
- Manage assigned budgets responsibly and track expenses.
- Ensure accurate documentation, tracking, and reporting of donor experience activities within the donor database.
- Use data and insights to inform planning, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, including outside regular business hours when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 6–8 years of progressive experience in donor relations, stewardship, fundraising, or relationship-focused roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading donor experience or stewardship initiatives or portfolios.
- Strong understanding of the donor journey and best practices in intentional, impact-focused stewardship.
- Experience with donor recognition, naming programs, and donor events.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in health care or community-based philanthropy is an asset.
- Experience with volunteers, committees, or boards is an asset.
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to craft warm, compelling, donor-centred content.
- Strong judgement, discretion, and comfort managing sensitive information.
- Strategic and analytical thinking combined with a hands-on approach to execution.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to influence, guide, and lead through collaboration rather than formal authority.
- Proficiency with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge or similar), digital tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese (written and verbal) is not required but is considered an asset.
