In addition, the Company acts as general contractor on civil construction projects, including excavation, utilities, concrete placement, sidewalks, and curbs, and in all kind of road construction related activities.

Role Purpose

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is hiring a seasonal loader operator for our operations.

This is a unionized position based in Prince Rupert, BC.

Main Responsibilities

Load material from stockpiles to appropriate piles and trucks.
Operate a wash plant for safe and quality minded operation.
Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate, and refill the equipment as necessary
Keep facilities clean and tidy.
Maneuver heavy equipment into loading and unloading positions
Participate, accept, and adopt the principles described in the company safety program
Other duties as required

Knowledge/Qualifications

Demonstrate a high attention to detail, be extremely organized, ability to multi-task, self-motivated.
Capable of working independently, promote a positive and safe work environment working collaboratively with team members & other management in the field in a physically demanding and fast paced work environment.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment such as lubricating, belt splicing, cleaning, etc.
Valid class 5 driver's license with clean driver's abstract.
First Aid & WHMIS certificates are considered and asset.

Working Conditions

Overtime as required
Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
Must be physically able to work general labour
Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry 50 LBS as needed
Use of personal protection equipment is required
Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements

Compensation Data

The anticipated wage range for this position is $44.59 - $45.94/hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
