Full job description

PERMANENT, PART-TIME (0.5 FTE), MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

The Leeds & Grenville Community Family Health Team invites applications for a permanent, part-time, (0.5 FTE) (37.5 hours bi-weekly), Medical Office Assistant (MOA). This position will require work at both locations as well as after-hours including weekends as require.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

Providing telephone and office reception;
Scanning process for Practice Solutions EMR (Electronic Medical Records);
The utilization of the EMR as it relates to MOA responsibilities;
Booking clients for primary health care providers;
Assisting the health care providers in identifying services; providing program assistance in implementing appropriate health promotion/disease prevention, and disease management services;
Accepting payment from clients for uninsured billing services and issuing transaction receipts;
Respond to daily health inquiries from clients and provide general information as needed;
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualified candidates will possess:

Diploma from a recognized Community College/ University in medical office administration/health related field;
Current experience in a medical/health care setting;
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred;
Excellent communication skills with clients challenged with health issues;
Ability to work independently and with supervision;
Ability and willingness to work with the team;
Understanding and ability to use medical terminology;
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Salary to commensurate with experience (range $22.04 – $23.38 / hour). This is a unionized position – SEIU Local 1 Canada.
