What to expect in the role

REDI Enterprises Society is presently seeking fulltime and casual Disability Service Worker’s (DSW’s) in Brooks. In this role, you will be supporting adults with developmental, physical, and complex psychiatric disabilities. With a passion for supporting people, you will:

Provide physical care, meal preparation, medication administration, and assist in day-to-day living activities
Provide supports a spectrum of individuals including clients with high medical needs such as colostomy care, g-tube, full personal care with lifts and transfers to clients with high complex behaviour needs such as verbal aggression, physical aggression, sexual aggression
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living space through routine cleaning and light maintenance
Provide opportunities for choice, self advocacy, and participation in matters relating to the client’s home
Seek input and feedback from individuals, to assess employability, eligibility for services, and to understand their needs and outcomes

You have the ability to listen actively, express yourself clearly, and adapt your communication style to the people you support. You are responsible, patient, and can keep calm under pressure. You have a person-centered approach and will take the time to get to know your client and act in their best interest, while maintaining professional boundaries.

Job Requirements

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
First Aid – Level C/CPR certificate
Basic computer literacy that meets the requirements of the specific role and agency/service
Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License & access to daily vehicle
Clean criminal record and vulnerable sector or one that is acceptable to the Executive Director
A positive attitude and belief that persons with disabilities have the right and responsibility to define and act on their life choices and seek active participation in the community
Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal format

Pay: $18.75 per hour
