Clinical Supervisor, Practical Nursing & PSW Programs - Temporary Part Time (Sept. 2026 - Dec. 2026)

Status: Temporary Part Time (September 2026 - December 2026)

Hours: Up to 24 hours/week

Home Campus: IAHS/Various Work Locations (fully on-site)

Rate of Pay: $55.00 per hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation

Vacancy Status: Multiple vacancies available

Job Summary

The role of the Clinical Supervisor is:

To supervise and guide Practical Nursing (PN) and Personal Support Worker (PSW) students as they demonstrate previously acquired knowledge, skills, and judgment in the clinical setting while promoting safe, evidence‑informed, client‑centred care.
To provide formative feedback both verbally and written that supports the development of clinical judgment, critical thinking, and professional conduct.
To ensure patient and student safety within diverse and complex clinical environments.
To support students in progressing toward meeting clinical course learning objectives and CNO entry‑to‑practice competencies for Practical Nursing students.

What you’ll be doing:

Patient Care Supervision

Clinical Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the safe delivery of student-provided patient care by:

Supervising and guiding all student clinical activities thorough direct and indirect supervision.
Following clinical agency policies, Mohawk College policies, and relevant professional standards.
Intervening and collaboratively working with the primary health care team when:
Adjusting clinical assignments daily based on student skill progression.
Collaborating with faculty and the interprofessional healthcare team to maintain a positive learning environment.

Student Performance Assessment

Using established evaluation tools, Clinical Supervisors assess and document student performance, including:

Professional Practice Hours
Weekly Logs and Feedback
Midterm and Final Evaluations
Competency Success Plans (as required)

Responsibilities include:

Providing consistent, clear, and timely verbal and written feedback.
Communicating concerns and collaborating with the healthcare team as needed.
Working with the Program Coordinator to determine if students meet clinical objectives and demonstrate required competencies.

Facilitate Learning Experiences

Clinical Supervisors help students develop competence and confidence by:

Assigning students to patients based on skill level, goals, and safety considerations.
Clearly communicating course expectations and clinical objectives.
Maintaining professional, respectful relationships with students, staff, patients, and families.
Leading post‑clinical conferences to reinforce learning and reflective practice.

Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also be able to meet the deadline for clinical clearance requirements, and they must remain current for the duration of the semester.

These requirements include:

Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months).
Mask Fit (valid for two years).
Current CNO Registration (RPN/RN/NP), entitled to practice with no restrictions.
Required Immunizations.
Tuberculin Skin Test.
Influenza Vaccine (recommended, required in some clinical settings).
COVID-19 Vaccine (recommended, current booster required in some clinical settings).

What you’ll bring to the role:

Current RPN, RN, or NP registration (no restrictions) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience in acute care or long-term care setting required.
Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends.
Experience supervising learners or staff in a clinical environment is strongly preferred.
Basic computer literacy.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
