Accounting Clerk III

Location: Oakville, ON -Hybrid

Employment Type: Contract to hire

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Accounting Manager / Controller

Now, they are expending their team and looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk III to join their Finance & Accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for accounting professionals looking to contribute within a collaborative corporate environment while supporting daily financial operations and continuous process improvements.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting and clerical functions including transaction processing, reconciliations, general ledger support, and financial record maintenance.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Transactions

Record daily financial transactions accurately into the accounting system
Maintain and update general ledger entries and supporting documentation
Process adjustments, refunds, credits, and journal entries as required
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies

Administrative & Clerical Support

Compile, organize, and maintain accounting records, invoices, and financial documents
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
Assist with data entry, filing, document retention, and audit preparation

Reporting & Systems

Generate routine accounting reports and financial summaries
Utilize ERP/accounting software and databases for financial tracking and reporting
Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial information within systems
Support system improvements and process optimization initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Accounting coursework or bookkeeping certification considered an asset
CPA designation or working towards would be beneficial
4–6 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience
Experience in general ledger support and reconciliations
Experience working in a fast-paced corporate or multi-entity environment preferred
Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting procedures

Soft Skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
