Job Overview

Florence Meats is a family run business located in Oakville, ON since 1977. We pride ourselves in delivery excellent customer service and quality products. We are in need of a retail butcher with 2-3 years of direct, hands-on experience in cutting and processing meat.

In this role, you will be the expert in preparing, cutting, and packaging high-quality meats to meet customer needs. Your enthusiasm for food industry excellence and commitment to food safety will ensure a top-tier shopping experience for our customers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your butchery expertise and grow within a supportive team dedicated to excellence.

Duties

Prepare and cut various types of meat according to customer specifications using professional butchery techniques
Ensure all meat products are handled, stored, and packaged in accordance with food safety standards and regulations
Assist customers by providing knowledgeable recommendations, answering questions, and offering exceptional service
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat preparation area, including sanitizing tools and surfaces regularly
Manage inventory levels, restock displays, and monitor product freshness to ensure quality standards are met
Follow proper food handling procedures during all stages of meat processing to prevent contamination
Support the overall operation by assisting with food preparation tasks in the kitchen when needed

Skills

Proven experience in the food industry, particularly in butchery or meat preparation
Strong knowledge of food safety protocols and proper handling techniques
Skilled in meat cutting, trimming, and packaging with attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
Kitchen experience is beneficial for understanding food preparation processes
Good physical stamina for standing, lifting heavy loads, and working on your feet for extended periods
A Valid Food Handling Certificate is required
