Qualifications:

Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
Must have current or recent clinical experience of at least two years in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (required).
Must have completed or be currently enrolled in a certificate program in Post Anaesthetic Care Unit nursing (required).
Must have completed a critical care nursing program and have current knowledge and demonstrated skill in the care of patients with arterial lines, swan-ganz lines, CVP lines and respirators and care of paediatric patients and airway management.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of pain management concepts including recent experience with the use of Epidural and PCA pumps.
Demonstrated clinical assessment and patient/family teaching skills.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of I.V. therapy is required.
Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability required.
Preference will be given to candidates with post diploma related educational preparation or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
