Full job description

Grocery Clerk

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate, and timely manner. The Grocery Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety requirements, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives.
Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures.
Utilize the CAO (Computer Assisted Ordering) system to manage inventory and support ordering functions.
Provide superior customer service to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products and seasonal programs.
Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, ensuring work areas remain clean, organized, and presentable in accordance with company standards.
Prepare customer orders as required.
Process department shrink and inventory adjustments as required.
Safely operate power equipment, including pallet jacks and other approved equipment, in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
Lead and support team members by providing direction, coaching, and assistance to ensure operational standards are achieved.
Participate in the training and development of junior staff.
During scheduled leadership rotations, oversee total store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, store standards, and operational execution.
Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and/or closing the store, securing company assets, and responding appropriately to operational issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous grocery retail experience preferred.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset.
Experience using CAO (Computer Assisted Ordering) systems is considered a strong asset.
Experience operating power equipment is considered a strong asset.
Must have a flexible schedule with open availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Must be able to lead a team effectively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
Must be comfortable managing total store operations during leadership rotations.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to work in cold-temperature environments, including coolers and freezers, for extended periods of time.
May be required to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical work including bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
