Intern Architect (Downtown Vancouver)

Chernoff Thompson Architects has a position available for a team member that is an Intern Architect registered with the AIBC. We are looking for well-rounded team members with experience or potential in all aspects of design, documentation and construction. We have a number of high tech/biotech private sector, institutional, and industrial clients, as well as various projects for all levels of government, healthcare authorities, and various post-secondary institutions.
Our office is located in downtown Vancouver and usually consists of approximately 50+ staff. We require motivated, highly disciplined staff with a strong design sense that enjoy working as part of a team.
We are looking for team players, who are comfortable working with clients and consultants and have a high interest in design, detailing, and construction documents. We are looking for team members who will benefit from working in small groups and directly with our Principals, Associates & Project Managers.
Ideal candidates will have:
· Registration as an Intern Architect with the AIBC or eligible for registration within 3 months.
· Security clearance with the Federal Government or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
· Graduation from a University professional degree in the study of Architecture from a Canadian or equivalent institution.
· At least 1 – 4 years experience in British Columbia or equivalent jurisdiction. Summer work experience during graduate studies may contribute to this work experience.
· Excellent English language verbal and written skills.
· Outstanding design skills.
· Working knowledge of, and skills in, producing, design and construction documents in Revit and Autocad.
· Experience in institutional building types.
· Understanding of conventional drawing communication for construction drawings; some experience in preparing base drawings in Autocad and Revit.
· Ability to produce high quality 3-D renderings in a variety of software platforms, including Lumion.

· Work closely with one or more Principals or Associates and on teams of 3-6 persons
· Be involved in a variety of project types, including small and medium sized renovations, technically complex interior laboratory projects, healthcare projects, and new buildings

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000
Salary to be commensurate with experience and education level. Candidates with different experience, education and skills than requested will have the salary range adjusted as appropriate.

This position is intended to be a primary (100%) in-office position during the 3 month probation period. It will continue to be a primarily in-office position with an option to work from home up to 20% of the time after the probation period for intermediate level candidates. Junior positions are in office full time until intermediate level is reached. This policy may be adjusted time to time.
