Shipper/Receiver – Glass Cutting ExperienceJob Overview
Action Glass Inc. is seeking an experienced and dependable Shipper/Receiver with glass cutting skills to join our Surrey shop team.
This is a hands-on position responsible for receiving materials, cutting glass, preparing orders for our field technicians, maintaining inventory, and helping keep the shop organized and operating efficiently.
The successful candidate must have previous glass cutting experience, strong computer skills, and the ability to accurately read measurements and work orders. Attention to detail is essential, as the materials prepared by this position directly affect the efficiency of our technicians and the service provided to our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive incoming glass, aluminum, hardware, and other materials.
- Check deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrect materials.
- Cut glass accurately according to measurements and work orders.
- Safely handle, move, rack, label, and store glass.
- Prepare glass, hardware, and materials for technicians and scheduled jobs.
- Ensure orders are complete and accurate before being released to the field.
- Load and unload supplier and company vehicles.
- Package glass and other fragile materials to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate inventory and material records.
- Use company computer systems to receive materials, review work orders, update records, and track inventory.
- Assist with regular inventory counts.
- Communicate with technicians, dispatchers, estimators, and office staff regarding material requirements.
- Keep the warehouse, glass racks, cutting tables, and shipping and receiving areas clean and organized.
- Follow all company and WorkSafeBC safety procedures.
- Perform other shop and warehouse duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous glass cutting experience is required.
- Previous shipping and receiving or warehouse experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a glass shop, glazing company, or construction-related environment is an asset.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn company inventory and job-management systems.
- Ability to accurately read work orders, measurements, and material descriptions.
- Comfortable working with imperial and metric measurements.
- Basic math skills for measuring, counting, and verifying quantities.
- Knowledge of proper glass handling and storage techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Able to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team.
- Physically capable of safely lifting, carrying, and handling glass, hardware, and construction materials throughout the workday.
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.
