Position: Lane Closure Technician (LCT) with Highway Experience
Location: Lower Mainland
Job Type: Part Time
Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Day shift, Night shift, 12-16 hours/day; Open availability including weekends and evenings required.

Role and Responsibilities:
As a Lane Closure Technician (LCT) with highway experience, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Traffic Management and Safety: Direct motor and pedestrian traffic to ensure safety on highway routes, maintaining a safe work environment for both crew members and the public.
- Traffic Control Implementation: Implement and manage traffic control measures according to established traffic management plans (TMP) for highway projects.
- Highway Experience: Utilize your 1-2 years of highway experience to manage traffic flow, perform lane closures, and address any traffic control issues that arise.
- TMA Competency: Operate and demonstrate proficiency with a TMA (Crash Attenuator - Scorpion) to protect workers and manage traffic during lane closures.
- Cone Placement: Perform cone placement and manage traffic using a barrel truck (man bucket) on highway projects.
- TMP Reading: Read and interpret Traffic Management Plans (TMP) to ensure the correct setup and operation of traffic control measures.
- Median Crossover Implementation: Implement median crossovers effectively to manage traffic flow and enhance safety on highway routes.
- Single Lane Alternating Closure: Lead and manage single-lane alternating closures, ensuring efficient traffic control and adherence to safety standards.
- Physical Stamina: Demonstrate the physical ability to stand and work for extended periods (10-12 hours), maintaining high levels of alertness and professionalism throughout shifts.
- First Aid Certification (Nice to have): Possess a valid First Aid Certificate to respond to any on-site emergencies effectively.
- Safety Gear and Equipment: Ensure you have the necessary safety gear including Steel Toe Boots, and confirm your shirt size and availability of required gear.
- Vehicle Ownership: Own a vehicle for reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Highway Setup Knowledge: Apply your knowledge of highway setup, including understanding speeds, signage, and lane management.
Qualifications and Skills:
What You Need to Have:
- Valid Tickets: Traffic Control Person (TCP) and Lane Closure Technician (LCT) certifications.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Highway Experience: 1-2 years of experience working on highway projects.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods (10-12 hours) and work in various weather conditions.
- Availability: Open availability for day and night shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- Professionalism: A professional and punctual demeanor with strong decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Location: Lower Mainland including Vancouver, Burnaby/New West, Tri-Cities (Langley, Surrey, Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge) Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Hope
- Experience: 1-2 years LCT/Highway Experience an asset, we are willing to train!
