Location: Burns Lake BC (This is a travelling position, and the successful candidate may reside in surrounding communities.)

As a Guardianship Social Worker at CSFS, you'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children, families, and communities, helping young people stay connected to their culture, identity, and sense of belonging. This position offers a unique opportunity for candidates based in Prince George, Smithers, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, or surrounding communities. The successful candidate will be required to work in Burns Lake, BC on a weekly, ongoing basis, with travel arrangements fully supported by CSFS.

Employees will travel to Burns Lake each Monday using a CSFS fleet vehicle and remain in the community throughout the work week, returning to their home community on Fridays. To support this arrangement, CSFS provides accommodations in Burns Lake from Monday through Thursday, a fleet vehicle for authorized travel, and meal per diems throughout the work week in accordance with organizational travel policies. This structured schedule allows employees to focus on their work while benefiting from employer-supported travel, lodging, and meal expenses. Travel and accommodation arrangements are subject to operational requirements and applicable CSFS policies.

Guided by Indigenous ways of knowing and being, our Child and Family teams believe that meaningful change begins with strong relationships and access to the right supports. Through advocacy, prevention, education, and resource navigation, we help individuals and families build on their strengths and overcome systemic barriers. Ultimately, our work helps build the stability and support needed for members to exercise self-determination within their families and their communities.

The Opportunity: The Guardianship Social Worker promotes and ensures the safety, well-being, and rights of Indigenous children and youth in care, providing ongoing support throughout placement, permanency planning, and transition to adulthood. This role works collaboratively with caregivers, families, Indigenous communities, and multidisciplinary partners to deliver culturally responsive guardianship services in accordance with the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).

Develop and oversee care plans for children and youth in care, ensuring input from the child, caregivers, extended family, and other members of the care planning circle.
Support children, youth, and caregivers through placement, permanency, adoption, and life-skills planning while safeguarding the child’s rights and well-being.
Collaborate with Indigenous communities, service providers, legal partners, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services, maintain cultural connections, and achieve positive outcomes for children and youth.

What You Will Bring to The Role:

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services-related field such as Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Indigenous Studies, Education, Early Childhood Education, Anthropology, or Theology.
Experience in family services, child and youth services, or child welfare environments, with guardianship, resource, child protection, or child welfare specialization experience preferred.
C4 delegation (or higher) under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA), or the ability to complete training to obtain C4 delegation; valid Class 5 driver's licence required.

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $41.73 to $ $54.04 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
