Title and Authority Job Title: Glass Installer
Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Production Manager, HOM. This role has some supervisory authority related to training and development. General Description of the Role This position is our customer facing employee that drives the glass to the site and installs according to specifications. Safety, attention to detail and quality of workmanship, while supporting schedules, and customer satisfaction are paramount for success in this position.
Role Accountabilities
- Read and interpret company work orders, shop drawings, and specifications todetermine the type of installation procedure and materials / tools required to completethe project.
- Meet and greet the customers with a friendly and courteous manner. Also, correctlyinstruct customers on proper care and maintenance.
- Complete the required installation according to the design and resolve any issues thatmay arise.
- Complete safety sheets and assess every job/procedure before completing all tasks /installs.
- Follow company rules and safety standards set out by the company and OHS(Occupational Health & Safety) codes & regulations.
- Collaborate with all professionals involved in the project including lead hand, contractors, designers, estimators, fabricators, and manufacturers of the product if a defect is identified.
Specific Tasks
- Install glass, mirrors, and any other related products at client’s location.
- Load and arrange various glass, mirror, and hardware into company vehicles.
- Drive to installation sites and unload glass, mirror, hardware, and tools.
- Move furniture and other obstacles to clear work sites, and cover floors and furnishingswith drop cloths.
- Perform site walk-throughs with customers to review scope of work and to show workcompletion.
- Set glass and mirrors into channels, wood and metal frames, operable door hinges, andsetting blocks.
- Tape-off material for glazing and uniformity.
- Determine plumb of walls or ceilings using laser levels and straight edges.
- Manage glass and mirrors using suction cups and secure glazed panels and mirrorproducts using a variety of hardware and adhesives.
- Cut and remove broken glass prior to installing replacement glass.
- Drill holes in a variety of stone, ceramic, porcelain, and glass tiled surfaces.
- Use battery operated power tools and hand tools, as well as large power tools like tablesaws, panel saws, shop saws, and pneumatic notching machines.
- Cut and fabricate various metal channels in the shop and on jobsites.
- Perform daily activity work sheets (trip sheets), hazard assessments, vehicle inspections,and other paperwork as needed.
- Read drawings, work orders, and any other specific instructions for work activity.
- Follow and cooperate with our company health and safety program (COR).
- Abide by the directions provided by the Lead Hand, Estimator, and InstallationCoordinator.
- Resolve any installation issues that may arise by contacting the installationcoordinator/estimator to discuss.
- Lift up to 100 pounds individually, and heavier glass products with assistance.
- Plans tasks according to site conditions and mindful of time management.
- Apply creative thinking to solve problems on the jobsite during installations.
- Have a high level of ownership, accountability, initiative, and can work with minimal supervision.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Skills and Experience
Required Skills and attributes - you are:
- Experienced in glass installation.

Required experience / qualifications—you have:
- A high School Diploma
- Some experience working with glass.
Desirable experience / qualifications—you may have:
- Experience with reading blueprints/shop drawings, and work orders.
- Customer relations experience

- This position requires 100% working onsite. This includes mobile worksites and the shop/office worksite.
- This position requires a valid driver's license.
- This position requires frequent travel in Calgary and the surrounding area and may include out of town travel and stays overnight in hotels or other types of lodging.
- This position requires you to provide coverage in other areas, as necessary.
