Join Calgary's Legendary Pub

The Ship & Anchor Pub has been a Calgary institution for over 30 years, known for great food, great people, and one of the city's most vibrant hospitality environments. We're looking for an experienced Night Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team during evening and late-night service.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen, can motivate a team under pressure, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and professionalism.

What You'll Do

Lead the Evening Kitchen Team
Supervise cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers during service.
Act as the kitchen leader during evening and late-night shifts.
Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive workplace culture.
Coordinate with Front of House management to ensure smooth service.

Deliver Great Food

Ensure all menu items are prepared consistently and to Ship & Anchor standards.
Monitor ticket times, food quality, presentation, and portion control.
Support feature development and creative menu ideas.
Jump onto any station as needed during busy periods.

Manage Operations

Oversee nightly kitchen operations from opening through close.
Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and food cost controls.
Monitor product rotation, labeling, and storage procedures.
Reduce waste and maintain organization throughout the kitchen.

Train & Develop Staff

Coach and mentor cooks to improve performance and consistency.
Help onboard and train new kitchen team members.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Food Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Alberta Health Services and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
Maintain sanitation standards and cleaning schedules.
Complete nightly closing inspections and kitchen reports.
Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and ready for the next day's service.

QualificationsRequired

2+ years of kitchen leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
Strong experience in a high-volume restaurant, pub, or hospitality environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience working all major kitchen stations.
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to lead a team under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred

Alberta Food Safety Certificate.
Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and ordering.
Experience developing features, specials, or menus.

Schedule

Full-time (40-45 hours per week)
Primarily evenings and late nights
Must be available weekends and holidays
