We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef de Cuisine to lead the culinary team in Argyle, our signature, upscale casual restaurant and patio. This is an opportunity for a creative, people-focused culinary leader to shape seasonal menus, mentor a talented brigade, and deliver exceptional dining experiences within one of Canada's premier private clubs. Working closely with the Executive Chef, you will influence the culinary direction of Argyle while building a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
As Chef de Cuisine, you will oversee all culinary operations within Argyle, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistent execution, financial discipline, and outstanding member experience. You will lead and develop a team consisting of a Junior Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, line cooks, kitchen expeditors, and dishwashers while collaborating with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage leadership team to continuously enhance the dining experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing culinary team through daily mentoring, succession planning, and performance development
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and accountable kitchen culture that aligns closely with the Club’s mission and values and contributes to making The Glencoe Club one of Calgary's premier private club dining destinations
- Design and execute innovative seasonal menus reflecting an upscale casual dining experience while responding to member preferences and culinary trends
- Maintain exceptional food quality, visual presentation, and consistency across all service periods to ensure premier member dining experiences
- Manage food costs, labour, purchasing, inventory, waste reduction, and kitchen productivity to successfully achieve departmental financial goals
- Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and occupational health and safety standards.
- Partner strategically with the Executive Chef on menu planning, special events, feature promotions, and continuous culinary innovation to improve workflow efficiency
- Promote product knowledge and culinary excellence by educating staff and members on offerings, contributing to the Club's reputation as a premier dining destination
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of of progressive culinary experience, including at least three years in a culinary leadership role. Experience in an upscale restaurant, hotel, resort or private club environment is preferred
- Red Seal certification and/or Culinary Diploma
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and team development skills
- Strong financial acumen, including food cost, labour management, and inventory control.
- Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Passion for culinary innovation and continuous improvement
- Excellent knowledge and execution of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and kitchen operations.
- Valid Food Safe Certification (i.e. ProServe) is required

Additional Details:
This is a full-time, salaried position that reports to the Executive Chef. Flexibility is required to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays, with shifts beginning as early as 7:00 a.m. and ending as late as 11:00 p.m.
