McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, a family-owned funeral services company that has been part of the Calgary community and leader in the funeral services industry for over 120 years, is seeking a professional and courteous Human Resources Coordinator. This role will be the right fit for an HR professional who may be looking to enhance their experience or wind down their HR activities while dealing with the day-to-day responsibilities of HR. Your Role in HR:
Working with the HR Advisor and Payroll/Benefits Administrator to support a team of 140 amazing professionals, you will:
- Assist with recruiting –conducting initial screening interviews with potential candidates to find the diamonds who will excel in a specialized, 5-star customer service environment
- Assist with onboarding for all new hires – setting up the background for new employees (thankfully there are checklists), ensuring the employee receives the correct sign-on forms (more checklists) and the access they need to be successful
- Assist with uniform program - We provide all staff with uniforms for their position, including shoes. We have all items on hand or order directly from various suppliers. Our team needs to always look their best
- Day to Day HR – Answer the questions HR gets such as how many vacation days do I have? What are my benefits? Where can I find (fill in the blank)? Could I get a letter of employment?
- Technology / Tools set up - We have embraced technology. With the help of IT, we set up iPhones, Google Drive and Microsoft Accounts. We are the catch-all for questions and troubleshooting
- Other HR tasks - The above list is not all. There is more to the day-to-day work that we do. We have many ongoing projects that you can be involved in
Qualifications Required:
- Formal HR education (completed or enrolled)
- You present yourself professionally, understanding and respecting the environment we work in
- You need to be able to say or think – of course, how can I help?
- We work out of one location but engage with our team across the city. There are many team members that we don’t see until the quarterly meeting - thankfully there are pictures
- You must be able to establish a relationship over Teams and through your communication
- You are quick to change from one task to another and be fluid to move as the day goes on
- You are comfortable collaborating with owners and senior management.
