Cerebral Palsy Alberta (CPAA) is a registered non-profit organization that supports individuals with all disabilities in the province of Alberta, Canada. The CPAA is an affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy. We enrich and support the lives of children and adults with all disabilities through our programs and services. We also collaborate with other organizations to promote awareness, acceptance and understanding for individuals with disabilities to live, learn and work in the community.

Overview: The Volunteer Coordinator works collaboratively across CPAA departments to develop, implement, and maintain a sustainable volunteer program. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of volunteer coordination, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, scheduling, engagement, and evaluation, in alignment with organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

Assess and monitor organizational needs to develop appropriate volunteer roles
Manage the full volunteer recruitment cycle, including screening, reference checks, and criminal background checks
Coordinate volunteer onboarding, orientation, and training in alignment with CPAA policies and procedures
Schedule, supervise, and support volunteers across programs and events to ensure smooth operations
Evaluate volunteer performance and provide ongoing feedback and support
Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records and database
Review, update, and maintain volunteer information packages and resources
Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers
Collaborate with volunteers and team members to improve volunteer satisfaction and retention
Plan and support volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives
Attend community events to support volunteer recruitment and program awareness
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries and coordinate with the Development team on third-party and CPAA events
Ensure compliance with CPAA policies, procedures, and applicable requirements
Prepare and submit regular reports (weekly/monthly) as required
Provide coverage for the Programs Coordinator as needed, including overseeing classes and reporting on attendance and activities
Support program coordination in collaboration with the Programs Coordinator (including occasional weekend availability)

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in volunteer coordination is an asset
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (programs operate at various community locations)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset
Comfortable building relationships and engaging with community members
High school diploma required; post-secondary education is an asset

Work Conditions

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, and light lifting (up to 25 pounds)
Occasional travel might be required.
In-person position
Additional hours may be required outside of the usual working hours, including weekends and evenings.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
3 month contract with the possibility of extension
