PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the MSE Wall Supervisor will be responsible to ensure Aecon Civil Construction Corp. achieves their general and specific project requirements, on the Deerfoot Trail Improvements Project.
The MSE Wall Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the construction, installation, and quality control of mechanized stabilized earth (MSE) wall systems on heavy civil or infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all wall components are installed in accordance with engineering specifications, project plans, safety standards, and schedule requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily site activities related to MSE wall construction.
- Supervise crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and survey teams to ensure alignment with design and schedule.
- Ensure proper installation of wall components including panels, reinforcement (geogrid/steel straps), backfill, and drainage systems.
- Monitor wall alignment, elevation, and batter to meet project specifications.
- Oversee excavation, foundation preparation, and leveling pad installation.
- Conduct inspections of materials and workmanship for compliance with design specifications.
- Ensure proper compaction and placement of backfill materials.
- Identify and address deficiencies or non-conformance issues promptly.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Experience in heavy civil construction, earthworks, or retaining wall systems (MSE experience required).
- Proven experience supervising field crews on infrastructure projects (roads, highways, or embankments preferred).
- Strong understanding of MSE systems, including geogrid or steel reinforcement methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of compaction requirements and soil behavior.
- Ability to work 6 days a week, day and night shift as needed
